Arthritis, the inflammation of joints, is hard to live with untreated. Fortunately, medicine has come a long way and you can now seek highly effective local arthritis treatments for pain management. And although there are over a 100 types of arthritis, the two most common types are Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. They both require different types of medications and treatments which can be provided at our facility.
Osteoarthritis, also called degenerative arthritis, is the most common type of arthritis and is the result of a lack of cartilage. Cartilage is slick surface on the ends of bones that can sometimes act as cushion, but when it wears away the bones begin grinding against other bone. And bone against bone is not natural and creates swelling, pain and stiffness in the joints. However, this joint pain can be treated with anti-inflammatory medicine and light stretching. The medicine will reduce pain and swelling and the stretching will return the range of motion you are used to. You can seek more help from a chiropractor too when the inflammation goes away. This can become chronic, but by seeking help early at medical centers like ours you can reduce the joint deterioration and prevent the pain from becoming chronic.
The other most common type of arthritis is rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This can be particularly bad if left untreated. It occurs when the immune system, the body’s natural defense against diseases, targets the joints and also results in swelling, pain, and stiffness. This is usually chronic and the main goals of treatments is remission, to reduce pain so that you can live pain free. Arthritis treatments in the early stages are aggressive to reduce joint damage and lower symptoms to manageable point. The medications used to treat RA are corticosteroids, DMARDs, and Biologics, and JAK inhibitors. You can read more about these medications here.
